14 imagesUp the River | The Flint is a visual project documenting the Flint River and its headwaters through the eyes of the people who have a connection to it. The river starts in East Point, and then flows 344 miles to the Florida state line where it joins the Chattahoochee to create the Apalachicola River.
21 imagesArabia Mountain National Heritage Area sits a few miles east of Atlanta. This granite monadnock used to be influenced by the hand of man, as it was once a quarry. The area is today a place of metamorphosis where wetlands, pine forests, lakes and a vast exposed formation of granite collide. In winter, the red diamorpha, a rare, native plant grows in the shallow pits of the rock.
